Mission

We care... ... about a lot of things, the environment being one of the most important. The aim of obviously.ca is to provide you with accurate, verifiable, and entertaining information to help you make environmentally-conscious decisions.

We believe... ... that every action helps. That positive change has to start somewhere. That this will take a concerted effort from all of us to make a difference. We believe we can all do our part. We believe that you feel the same way.

You think... ... there's a problem. You've been hearing about all the environmental issues that we're dealing with right now - global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, climate change, species extinction, pollution, and on and on. You're looking for background information, practical advice, and inspiration so that you can live your life in an environmentally-responsible manner.

So, how to make the most of obviously.ca? More than just another environmental site, obviously.ca can help you...

...get schooled. Because we care about your education. Check out our background information on a whole range of environmental topics. There's also a collection of links to explore. And if you want to pursue your love for environmental learning further, we've got a list of postsecondary institutions in Canada that offer environmental programs. And coming soon, we'll have an ask-the-expert section.

...pose convincingly. Because your social life is important to us. If you want to know what's going on in the world, read NewsWatch, a guide to the top five daily environmental stories from around the web. Obviously.ca regularly features eco-celebrities, artists, and regular folk who are all doing their part to make things a little better. And if you feel so inclined, you might find that our Pop Culture section gives you plenty of conversational fodder.

...consume responsibly. Because you don't need to feel any more guilt. Whether you want to buy clothes, electronics, or stuff, you'll find information on consumer goods in our Lifestyle section. In Arts & Culture, you'll find movie and book reviews, so you'll know where to spend your entertainment money. Learn how to use your consumer power for the good of the planet.

...procrastinate. Because you can feel smug about wasting time. But only for a good cause. Check out our staff blog for interesting things we've found online, wander around our Media section, or just browse through obviously.ca - it's a pretty interesting site, with tons of things to find and content changing all the time (yes, we rhymed!).

...save the environment. Because this is our planet. Really, that's why we're here and that's why you're here, obviously. Not here on earth, but here, at this site. We've got tons of useful ways by which you can save the planet. It starts by declaring your commitment. And then by changing your actions one at a time. Eventually, you'll have enough information to make all your decisions environmentally-sustainable ones.
